EC Indians Program Staff

Played college baseball at NAIA and D1 level. Coached high school baseball and has been a part of ECB for 9 years. Specializing in teaching the mental and physical fundamentals of the game and preparing players for the next level. The rewarding experience includes seeing many former players continuing to advance and extend their playing careers.

Jim Merkling
17/U & 12/U Head Coach

Played high school, college and in minors. Coached at high school level and has been a part of ECB for several years. Specializing in the 17/U age group and aiding players in fulfilling their dream of playing baseball in college.

Jeff Hosterman
17/U Pitching Coach, 12U Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach

Has coached for 26 years at all ages from 6-18 at local, select and tournament levels. Has been with ECB for several years. The rewarding experience includes seeing numerous former players progress to move on to play at the high school, collegiate and professional levels.

Timi Moni
16/U & 14/U Head Coach

Playing under legendary coach Bobby Howard, Timi help led his team to a State Championship in 2000 at Columbus High (36-3) (Columbus,GA). Drafted by Los Angeles Dodgers, he opted to attended nationally ranked (3rd) Young Harris College. After a short college stint, he signed a professional contract with the with the Philadelphia Phillies where Spent 5 1/2 years. Timi currently serves as a Philadelphia Phillies Scout and provides private instruction under Technique Maximized Baseball Development.

Duane Wilson
13/U Head Coach

All-County 4 years at Westlake HS. As a catcher and first baseman, he excelled in his collegiate baseball stint at Florida A&M University. After graduation, he developed the infield as a Graduate Assistant Coach. Duane has Coached at Westlake HS, L.E.A.D Ambassadors, and currently coaches at Langston Hughes HS and has placed over 80 baseball scholarship athletes. He Specializes in the mental aspects and strategies of baseball, while teaching players the fundamentals of life through baseball.

Damien Barton
16/U Pitching Coach

Played his High School baseball at The Walker School were he excelled on the mound. Went on to pitch for Florida A&M University, was named Freshman Conference Player of the Year, ranked in Baseball America's Top Conference professional prospects 1999-2001, and was one of the Top Left Handed pitching prospects in the country in 2000. Damien was a starter in the Cape Cod League for the Bourne Braves, and was ranked by NCAA for strikeouts per 9 innings in 2000. A shoulder injury derailed his professional offers which shortened his playing career. Damien provides in-depth development for inspiring pitchers.

Coached for 22 years at all ages from 6-18. Currently coaching at the High School level. The rewarding experience includes helping players succeed at the high school level and continue their love of the game at the collegiate level.

Garrett McDaniel
15/U Pitching Coach

Played at ECB for 5 years, 3 years in the Indians organization with Jim Merkling and Jeff Hosterman. All state HS selection. Currently an active college pitcher.

Patrick Merkling
Pitching Coach

Patrick Merkling will be assisting with pitchers in the fall. He's in the Maimi Marlin farm system, pitching for the Jupiter Hammerheads. Patrick was drafted this summer after a successful college career, which included a NJCAA All-American award.
