Grambling State University as a utility player. Coached over seven years

through proper mechanics, and increasing players baseball IQ. My

13U Head Coach
Joey Popham is a local baseball product that grew up playing at Perry
Parham (now Larry Bell) Park, Shaw Park and the early days at East Cobb
Baseball. A highlight of Joey's time at ECB as a player was winning the
1993 18U NABF (National Amateur Baseball Federation) World Series in
Youngstown, Ohio. Joey was a 3 year varsity baseball letterman at
Sprayberry High School and received a pitching scholarship to
Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. After college, Joey
played professional baseball in Stockholm, Sweden and for 7 years.
Since September 2011, Joey has been involved with coaching,
instruction and summer baseball camps in local travel baseball programs
at Sandy Plains, WPB, Shaw Park and ECB. Through his time in the local
travel baseball community, Joey has developed a good sense of what it
takes to build, develop and coach a successful team. At the 13U and
older ages, good baseball teams must focus on a physical and mental
approach and preparation towards the game. Joey believes that baseball
is a sport that rewards a good mental approach to the game where each
player's baseball IQ is developed as well as fundamental skills that are
required for high school baseball and beyond.
